Anti-choice zealots trying to sell murder Print E-mail
Thursday, 11 June 2009 10:23
After more than a decade of effort, that included a near fatal gunshot, Dr Tiller, the Kansas physician who specialized in late-term abortions, has been murdered. The murderer will almost certainly say he was justified in his action. Zealots always know, better than anyone else, what is righteous. Irrespective of the outcome of the case, God will deal with this cowardly murderer in due course.
But almost before the news became public, the anti-choice conservative press was hard at work trying to sell a position to the public, that they are repulsed by the event, and that their ongoing hate-filled anti-choice rhetoric in no way influenced the commission of this crime. They hope this lie will persuade you not to see their complicity.

My choice has nothing to do with ego and everything to do with disgust. I was
raised to always know that you protect the most innocent and helpless. The
babies murdered by this process which is veiled by clever justification are the
most innocent and helpless. And no matter how you craft your words to your own
end, they change nothing. Most of my my responses have been fairly short. Im
not trying to fool myself or anyone one. I simply stick to what I believe in my
heart.

As usual Walter, you have chosen to totally miss the point.
I urge you to
consider that just because you have chosen the position you've chosen, doesn't
mean that others should be forced to make that same choice. You fail to see
that, by force, you would take away that other person's right to that self-same
choice. You would choose to remain blind to that other individual's plight,
simply because you've made your choice. Your words appear to be ego based.

(Why are most abortions, at any stage of development, performed?)

Because a
baby is an inconvenience to many, which is twisted fd up wrong.
amueller  - In reply to Dan, on late-term abortion   |2009-06-25 14:07:10
Dan,
You begin by saying you haven't seen pro-abortion arguments by ladies who
have had abortions, babies, or plan to have babies. I will remedy that. Go
to aheartbreakingchoice.com - you'll find plenty of them. As I stated
previously, the vast majority of women who have late-term abortions either
already have babies, or hope/plan/pray to have babies.

You go on to say that
you've only heard a pro-abortion stance from extremist lesbians, homosexual
males, or men whom you feel are misogynistic. Then you seem to question
whether or not I would fall into one of those categories.

With respect,
gender, sexual preference, and reproductive status are not germane. I have no
reason to hide mine, but I'm not discussing them because for the purposes of
debate, logic is logic. Points are either valid or not. I'd ask you to concern
yourself with my arguments, not my gender or reproductive status.

You say
pro-choice ...

I read your comments on this letter from Mr. Cornelius.

While reading them, it struck me that I have never had the pro-abortion arguments presented to me by ladies who either have had an abortion, have had babies, or plan to have babies. It is invariably either a lesbian (such as the extremist "reverend" you allude to in your comments), a homosexual male, or a male who, when I get to know him, I find out has very little respect for women as people. Despite all the claims of concern for the women involved, these are always the three groups who argue for the right to abort, "no matter what." I don't know whether you fall into one of these groups, so maybe you are an exception, but I do suspect you are not a lady who has had an abortion, who has had a baby, or who wants to have babies, because I am assuming you are not a woman at all, based on your name.

"Pro-choicers," as you like to call yourselves, always use extreme examples of horrible circumstances surrounding pregnancies to defend abortion. I wouldn't be surprised to hear one of you argue, "Abortion must remain legal because some day Satan may rape someone, and the young, innocent girl will be forced to give birth to the Antichrist!" Let's deal with reality. Why are most abortions, at any stage of development, performed? Have you ever looked into that question?

Your argument that pro-life people are against the artificial inducement or intervention for removal of a stillborn baby is ridiculous. I don't know any pro-life person who is against the removal of a stillborn baby who is not naturally being born. They may advocate waiting a prudent amount of time, for the health of the mother, but nobody that I know of argues that a stillborn should be allowed to decompose inside the mother! If you know anyone who makes such an argument, they do not represent general pro-life thought.

Another of your key arguments is based on a piece of fiction written (poorly so, in my opinion) by a lesbian Episcopal priest who is as radical as they come, and has even expressed a desire that health workers not be allowed to refuse to participate in abortions due to conscience.

The argument of the child being raped is a stronger argument, but again, is a worst-case scenario that matches a tiny percentage of the actual abortions taking place. Also, why do assume that an abortion, versus a pregnancy and birth, in such a scenario, would be better for the mental health of the child? Much research, and I say logic, once it's thought through, points the other direction from your assumption. Why should the baby produced be killed, instead of the vile uncle? Just because there is no easy answer to some horrible situations does not mean there is a right and wrong answer.

You say, "...any rule that starts out with 'no matter what,' is absurd." Yet, if you agree with Roe vs Wade

Every time the proposal is made that we ban all abortions except when the life of the mother is in danger, you "pro-choicers" say "no deal." That fact, along with well established statistics regarding the reasons for abortions in the West, make your extreme examples for the defense of all abortions ring hollow.

Andrew M., thank you for composing these words. Often, the truth is so simple
and apparent, and all too often, elusive to us. God has given us the gift of
choice, and yet some of us seem hell bent on denying that choice to everyone but
themselves. Lord protect us from the Zealots.

Up until a few days ago, I had mixed views on abortion. Back around 10 years
ago, when the term "partial-birth abortion" came into light, I was like
many others... I was horrified at the idea, and eagerly lent my support to those
would would ban it. I maintained that view up until just a few days
ago.

This last week, after a gun-wielding religious fanatic killed a doctor
while he was attending church, I started seeing stories about the "late-term
abortion doctor". I started reading. I read some more. I dug, and I
found stories from women who had late-term abortions. I educated myself on who
got late term abortions, and what happens when they do so. And the result...

I was not just wrong to support banning partial-birth abortion, I was WAY
wrong. Try a Google search for the story "Hannah" by Reverend
Katherine Hancock Ragsdale. Read it. See if you don't realize a few new
thing...

This is an opportunity for pro choicers to make a blanket accuasation that all
pro lifers are in league with that gun weilding maniac. No sell. I am a pro
lifer with christian beliefs, and I certainly do not find the actions of that
man the slightest bit acceptable. He will pay for what he has done.

Sho-Me ending electric contract with city in three years

Cuba is one of more than a dozen municipalities that received an early termination notice from Sho-Me Power Cooperative late last year. The electric cooperative will cease selling electric power to the city after March 25, 2013, and the letter of notice was in keeping with their contractual agreement that they alert customers three years prior to ending the service agreement.

Keeping telecom reform affordable is the best thing for all Missourians

When some of the biggest companies in the world start talking telecommunications policy in Missouri, the citizens of our state should grab their wallets. AT&T, Sprint and the big boys are at it again, trying to lower their costs of doing business. Their proposal would increase their shareholders’ wealth, while rural Missourians could see their monthly local phone bills increase by more than 200 percent.
