Wednesday, 03 December 2008 20:03
Do you want to see the race? The Crawford County Commission would like to know how residents directly affected by the 2009 Rally in the 100 Acre Wood feel about the race. If you are one of these and have a positive or negative comment regarding the race, please contact the commission by December 22.     The currently proposed dates, roads and times for Crawford County follows:

Friday evening, February 27, 2009:

Stage 5
Start:  On Ollie Coleman Road, just south of the intersection of Hwy HH, Sig Bass Road, and Ollie Coleman Road.
Stage Route:  From the start, rally cars will travel on Ollie Coleman Road to Crooked Tower Road, where they will turn to the right.  They will then continue on Crooked Tower to Camel’s Hump Road, where they will bear right onto Camel’s Hump.  The stage route will travel west on Camel’s Hump to the Crawford/Dent County line.
Finish:  The actual finish is in Dent County, on road 4020, shortly after the Crawford/Dent County line.
Expected time that the road would be used as a special stage (including set-up, safety checks, competition, and completing stage-related activities): approximately 5:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.  The first rally car would actually take the stage at about 6:55 p.m. according to the preliminary schedule.

Saturday, February 28, 2009:

Stage 6
Start:  Dent County Road 4020, prior to the Crawford/Dent County line.
Stage Route:  From the start, rally cars will travel into Crawford County, heading east on Camel’s Hump Road.  At Crooked Tower Road, the course will go left onto Crooked Tower, continuing east to Ollie Coleman Road.  The cars will turn left onto Ollie Coleman, and continue on to the finish.
Finish:  The stage finish is on Ollie Coleman Road, just south of the intersection of Hwy HH, Sig Bass Road, and Ollie Coleman Road.
Expected time that the road would be used as a special stage (including set-up, safety checks, competition, and completing stage-related activities): approximately 9:15 a.m. to 12.45 p.m.  The first rally car would actually take the stage at about 10:38 a.m. according to the preliminary schedule.

Stage 7
Start:  On the Sanders Cut-Off, just west of Huzzah Creek Road.  Huzzah Creek Road is not part of the stage.
Stage Route:  Rally cars will travel from the start to the intersection of Sanders Cut-Off and Hobo Road, where they will turn right onto Hobo.  They will continue north on Hobo Road to Westover Road, where they will again turn right and head to the finish, which is about a mile east of Hobo Road on Westover.

Rocketman  - bike race   |2008-12-14 06:41:43
I read at the J98.com site that Farmington wants in on the Tour of Mo bike race.
If there was a stage from Rolla or St James, to Farmington, this could run the
race thru Crawford county. I wonder if the officials of Crawford County would
warm up to the bike race, which Missouri has spent millions to promote, any
quicker than the rally,
which has pretty much been dropped in the lap of
central Mo with the state paying little or nothing to have it here. One thing
the bike race has in common with the road rally, it will still bring in more
Subarus than you can count.

article below
Farmington Wants Race
The city
of Farmington is going to put in a bid to host a stage of the Tour of Missouri
Bicycle Race. The race itself takes place next September. The city wants to host
either the start or finish of one of the stages. A decision on what citys will
be chosen is expected to be made in January.

Rocketman  - get it on   |2008-12-06 14:30:03
Hi Andrew,

2 questions,

1. can you see see the cars come by from your
house?

2, can I hang out there?
just kiddin, but I know of some folks
along the race course that make a little party of it.
Stock up on the
"essentials" ,invite a few friends over, and view a national sporting
event from your front yard.

one of the announced stages will be right near my home and so may affect me
somewhat.
I vote to race...our peace and quiet will be only slightly
interrupted
caution is overated..
Rick Maize  - release of stages ok'd by rally officials   |2008-12-06 07:15:35
I was told by someone who is a rallly volunteer that the rally officials did
give the ok for the stages to be published for comments from the residents of
Crawford county. My understanding is the "special stages " are the
timed racing that will take place on unpaved roads.
When the cars are not on a
special stage, ( paved and unpaved) roads they will be traveling below the
posted speed limit, these are called "transit stages".
I hear the
rally officials even set up hidden radar speed traps to keep 'em honest.

Rocketman  - was this a mistake?   |2008-12-05 09:28:17
I am a little surprised to see the rally stages posted on an open public site.

I thought the stages would not be made public till right before the races.

This prevents drives and would-be drivers from practiceing on the stages
before the actual race event,
that is where the real danger is, driving on the
course at rally speeds while there is public traffic on the course.
