With the village converting over to Quickbooks and setting up separate accounts for the police officer and well funds, Leasburg Secretary Vonnie Richards quit her position on Wednesday, July 29.
City Clerk Nicky Phillips confirmed Richards told her she was quitting at the village hall that day. However, as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Richards had yet to submit a formal letter of resignation. Phillips sent a mass email to all recipients in Richards’ address book, including the Cuba Free Press, which read as follows: “This email is to inform all parties that there has been a change within the Village. Vonnie Richards is no longer with us, until further notice please contact our office and someone will contact you back, and our new email address is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .” Calls placed to Richards have not been returned. A special emergency board meeting will be held in closed session on Thursday at 7 p.m. to decide what the board is going to do. Phillips told Three Rivers Publishing she could not comment at this time on personnel issues regarding the village.
