Growing poplulation of 'strangers' has city officials concerned

    City officials expressed concern about local housing and a growing population that is creating issues within Steelville. At the council meeting held March 4, discussion began around the idea of increasing utility costs and moved to Police Chief Lydle Davis’ belief that much of recent housing construction, directed toward those who receive subsidies to pay their rent, is bringing an undesirable group of people to the town.
