The city council has taken a necessary step forward in making the proposed Osage Indian monument at the Cuba Visitor’s Center a reality.
With spring just around the corner, many people begin projects to clean up leaves, brush, and limbs around their property and often burn the natural material to dispose of it. SFPD Chief Steven Lefler offered a reminder to be careful of weather conditions when burning outdoors, and especially to avoid burning when it is windy.
A local student recently received a special Christmas present from Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Reece Kinnaird had written the author three years ago and never received a response. On December 18 she received a letter directly from the author.
Criminal charges have been filed against a Cuba man for two separate incidents involving theft. Ronald J. Durham, age 37, stands charged with class C felony stealing and class B misdemeanor trespass in the first degree for an incident that allegedly took place on April 22, 2014 and with class C felony receiving stolen property on November 28, 2014.

Guests can watch as the eagles glide across the skies above the Montauk valley on Feb. 6 and Feb. 20 at Montauk State Park. The events are sponsored by Missouri State Parks and will be held at 9 a.m. on both days. Participants should meet at the CCC Stone Picnic Shelter for the free, public programs.
