The Missouri Department of Economic Development joined company leaders of Meramec Electrical Products Co., at a grand opening ceremony to celebrate the completion of the company’s expanded facility located at 1 Industrial Drive in Cuba, Mo. The expansion project includes the creation of 84 new jobs and a $10.6 million capital investment.

Local airman killed in Japan during typhoon

A 27-year-old serviceman from Bourbon was killed, along with two other airmen, on October 5, when they were swept into the ocean during a typhoon near Okinawa, Japan. Staff Sergeant Joshua Schoenhoff was an instrument and flight control systems specialist with the 461st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron based at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.

    A Cuba man has been charged with four felonies in two separate cases filed on the same day. Ronald J. Durham, 35, faces three charges related to an alleged domestic assault on October 4, as well as a drug-related charge from an incident that took place on October 9.
