Steelville youth receive MCB honors in hometown

    Steelville youth were recognized for their recent achievements at the Missouri Community Betterment conference this year at a special event held at the Middle School on November 19. MCB Executive Director Jan Simon came to Steelville to talk about the awards Steelville youth received and present a sign to be posted in the town.

Late audit filing ‘not a major item’

    Courtney Wegman, of Larry Hart and Associates, spoke to members of the St. James Schools Board of Education November 20 about an audit mistake made and how the issue is being addressed. Wegman said filing of an audit in 2010 was mishandled by the school’s underwriting firm, but will not cause any repercussions to the district.

    The First United Methodist Church of Bourbon is trying something new this year.
    Instead of the regular Christmas Bazaar and bake sale as their annual fund raiser, it was decided to have a silent auction and lunch with homemade soups and chili, hot dogs, chili dogs, drinks and desserts with carry outs available.

• PWSD #4 customers may seek legal action in hopes of reducing fees, improving service
    Residents of the Phelps Water Sewer District #4 (PWSD) met on Sunday to discuss the state of the district and options moving forward as residents face increasing rates. Organized by members of the district, Attorney Shane Grayson was on hand to discuss possible legal action open to the district.
