Bourbon alderman resigns

Bourbon alderman Dave Kline has resigned. In a letter to city hall dated July 9, Kline wrote: "I hereby resign my position as Alderman for Ward 1. I have accepted a job that will be relocating my family out of state."

The matter of filling Kline's position will be addressed at the regular city council meeting on Tuesday, July 16. His resignation was unexpected, and there is no word yet on what will happen there. The mayor may nominate a replacement, to be approved by the board of aldermen. Or the board may appoint a replacement themselves. Anyone who fills the alderman's seat would serve until the April election, which would have been the normal end of Kline's term.
Dave Kline was serving his second year as alderman for Ward I. He was first elected in April 2012.
