The St. James Lady Tigers softball team will be hosting its first-ever Softball Jamboree on Saturday. Teams participating include St. Clair, Union, and Hermann.
Softball practice has been under way since August 12. It was a little difficult in the beginning due to all the recent rain as the fields were too wet to play on so practice started in the batting cages. Coach Brad Purvis and Assistant Coach Marty Hauck have been working with the team everyday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. getting ready for the start of the season.
This year’s team will have 24 players including: freshmen Kennedie Losing, Miya Goss, Lexi Chambers, Madi Lindemann, Mackenzie Ketcherside, Alyssa McPeak, Harleigh Heuser, Olivia Moritz, Jessie Frasier and Devin Fuhring; sophomores Connie Davis, Chelsey Wisdom, Abbey Ray and Whitney Sybert; juniors Skyla Risner, Alexis Uffmann, Lindsay Seams, Ashley Marlatt, and Sara Rankin, and seniors, Caitlynn Donnelly, Courtney Crider, Veronica Davis, Amie Diestelkamp and Kara White.
The Lady Tigers will open play at the Softball Jamboree against St. Clair at 11 a.m. Union will face Hermann at 12:30 p.m., St. James will play Union at 1:15 p.m., St. Clair will play Union at 2 p.m. and St. James will play Hermann to close out the action at 2:45 p.m.
The first game of the regular season is scheduled for August 29 at home against Crocker, followed by an away game August 30 in Rolla and the New Haven tournament on August 31.
