Wildlife abundant on Woods Area, but no doves

The Woodson K. Woods Memorial Wildlife Area consists of nearly 6,000 acres of prime wildlife habitat along the Meramec River between St. James and Steelville. The Missouri Department of Conservation, with the aide of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation and the James H. Woods Foundation, purchased the area in 1971. The Woods area quickly became a place where outdoorsmen visited to hunt, fish, hike, bird watch, or take a daily walk on the miles of maintained roads within the boundaries of the area.
