Old Miners’ Days are coming to Viburnum October 4, 5, and 6, with a wide variety of fun events for all ages planned.
Friday, October 4 will feature the Tiny Tot Contest at 5 p.m., followed by the Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss Viburnum Contest at 6 p.m. in the Elmer P. Beard Gymnasium.
Saturday will kick off the day with craft and food booths opening at 9 a.m., along with a performance by the Viburnum High School Band. The VHS Choir will follow at 9:30. Mine tours, sponsored by the Doe Run Company, will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A children’s parade will be held at 10:30 a.m. and the opening ceremony will follow at 11 a.m. The Grande Parade will be held at 1 p.m. Children’s Games will begin at 2:30 p.m. (located under the water tower). At 2:45 p.m., awards will be given for the Grande Parade. The “Viburnum’s Got Talent” event will begin at 3 p.m.
Saturday’s musical performances (other that the high school) include Mariah Coleman on the Main Stage at noon, Special 20 and Dirt Road Band at 1:30 p.m. and Restless Heart in the Elmer P. Beard Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. (with All 8 Up and Lexi Larson opening).
On Sunday, the car show registration will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. The MTRA Poker Run will begin at 9 a.m. Craft and food booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Community Church Service will be held at 11 a.m. The top three finalists from “Viburnum’s Got Talent” will perform at 12:30 p.m. A musical performance by the Morton Family will be at 1 p.m. and Highway 32 (bluegrass music) will perform at 2 p.m. A flower auction will be held at 2:45 p.m. and the Children’s Tractor Pull will be at 3 p.m.
