Postseason softball honors announced, Switzer is the GVC MVP

Congratulations are in order for the six Lady Wildcats who were named to the 2013 Class 2, District 9 Softball All District Team.

Making the first team, all district were pitcher Tiffany Gruver (sophomore), infielders Lacey Sanazaro (senior) and Ciara McDonald (junior), and outfielder Jessica Switzer (senior). Honorable Mention awards went to Jessi Ettinger (junior) and Hannah Mitchell (sophomore).

The rest of the all district team included pitchers Abby Bartley of South Callaway and Lyndsi Vaughn of Linn; catchers Anna Barkley of South Callaway and Mykenzie Livesay of Steelville; utility player Chandler Hicks of Belle; infielders Karli Leeper, Paige Brown, and Bailey Ward of South Callaway, Randis Horstman and Kaylee Kinsey of Belle, Kelsie Booker of Steelville, Arin Barbarick of Linn, and Brittany Robertson of Bourbon; and outfielders Brooke Craw of South Callaway and Paige Rost of Linn.

Honorable Mention awards went to Paige Wilson of Linn, Katlyn Loucks of South Callaway, Kim Daugherty of Belle, and Megan Hammonds of Steelville.

Four CHS girls were also named to the all Gasconade Valley Conference team: Lacey Sanazaro, Jessica Switzer, Hannah Mitchell and Ciara McDonald. Sanazaro, Switzer, and Mitchell made the first team. McDonald was an all-conference Honorable Mention candidate.

Switzer was named by GVC coaches as the league’s most valuable player. Her MVP honor was based on her outstanding performance against conference opponents this season.

Others named to the conference honor team were: Randis Horstman, Chandler Hicks, Kim Daugherty, and Kaylee Kinzee of Belle; Kelsie Booker, Megan Hammonds, and Mykenzie Livesay of Steelville; Haley Ragan, Paige Helton, Ashley Schwartz, Maddie Strickland, and Ashley Logan of Vienna; and Brittany Robertson of Bourbon.
