Kander reminds Missourians about 2014 candidate filing

Secretary of State Jason Kander today reminded Missourians that the first day to file as a candidate for the 2014 primary and general elections is February 25, 2014. Kander encouraged all candidates to visit to learn important information and view a new webinar providing an overview of the filing process.

Unless a candidate is member of the armed services on active duty or unable to appear due to a physical disability, the candidate must file in person at the secretary of state’s office at 600 W. Main St. in Jefferson City. Candidate filing takes place during regular business hours, beginning at 8 a.m. on February 25, 2014, and lasting through 5 p.m. on March 25, 2014. Candidates who file on the first day will be entered into a random number drawing to determine the order of ballot placement on the primary ballot.
Offices that file with Kander’s office this year include auditor, U.S. representative, state senator in even-numbered districts, state representative, and certain judges. Filing for other offices takes place at the local level.
