There is a U.S. Naval base with its military sterness, its standard operating procedures, its bureaucracy, and just a few little mistakes (which the Navy vehemently denies).
Throw in a pushy Navy wife, a liberated female, a not too bright male chauvinist career Navy man, a nervous Nelly, a heartless Naval inspector and a fallen cake and you have Boomcake!
Does Boomcake sound familiar? It should for residents who were in Cuba in 1979, when the musical, written by Ralph Herron with music by Janet Mehas, was performed at Recklein Auditorium.
Fast forward 35 years–the Cuba High School Drama Department, under the direction of Sue Ryle and Steve Nobel, will restage the beloved musical.
The curtain will open on Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. the second performance will be on Saturday, March 15 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at Cuba High School, but can also be purchased at the door.
Come relive a little of Cuba’s creative history and support the talents of this generation!
