A candlelight vigil, which was scheduled for last Friday, has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The vigil, held in honor of Hailey Owens will now be held on Friday, February, March 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. The vigil will be a chance for citizens of St. James to support the family of the young girl from Springfield, Missouri who was kidnapped and murdered.
The vigil will be held at the Nelson Hart Community Park and sky lanterns will be available to participants free of charge. A pavilion will be selling hot chocolate and taking donations for Owens’ family. Participants can bring their own candles if they prefer.
Amy Crews and Crystal Walter are coordinating the event and a Facebook page, “Shining Our Lights For Hailey Owens and Her Family” has been created and will keep the community informed as to the evening’s proceedings. The page will be available should any further changes occur, so residents are encouraged to view it if there are any questions. All are encouraged to attend.
