The public is invited to join in on a "Community Conversation About Medicaid," an opportunity to hear facts about Medicaid—what it is, what expansion would mean to the state of Missouri, how many new people would be insured, and the pros and cons of expansion. This event is open to the public, and will be held Tuesday, March 25, at 6 p.m. at Presbyterian Manor, located at 1200 Homelife Plaza in Rolla.
Special speaker will be Ryan Barker, MSW, MPPA,Vice President of Health Policy at the Missouri Foundation for Health. Barker joined MFH in 2002 and assisted in the establishment and growth of the Health Policy area of the Foundation. His research has focused on issues such as examining the impact of the Affordable Care Act, Missouri's Medicaid program, increasing health equity, and strategies to provide quality, affordable health coverage to all Missourians. Medicaid is the largest source of funding for medical and health-related services for people with low income in the United States.
Your Community Health Center (YCHC) in Rolla, the new federally qualified health clinic, is sponsoring the event along with Missouri Foundation for Health.
"We invite the public to come and hear Ryan Barker speak, to ask questions, and learn more about Medicaid," said YCHC Chief Executive Officer, Amy Beechner-McCarthy. "We wanted to host an open conversation, so people can get the facts and have a better understanding."
