Duck race set for April 19

Calling all Ducks! Preparations for the 2014 Yakin Creek Duck Race are under way! The duck race is an annual event hosted by the graduating class to gain money for their Project Graduation event.

Project Graduation is a program, offered by many high schools, in which an alternative post-graduation party that is adult supervised and alcohol and drug free is offered instead of a student-run event with alcohol or drugs. At project graduation there will be many exciting activities as well as great prizes offered to seniors. To help pay for these things fundraisers such as the duck race are organized.
The Yakin Creek Duck Race will take place on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. The race is to start at Hoppe Springs Park and the finish line will be at the Steelville Community Park. More than $1,000 in cash and prizes are offered to the winners of the individual and corporate duck races and you need not be there on the day of the race to win.
Ducks are for sale are $5 for individual ducks and $25 for a corporate duck. Ducks can be purchased from any high school senior and at First Community National Bank, Peoples Bank, the Steelville Star, Steelville Drug and Explore Steelville. They will also be available for purchase on the day of the race at Hoppe Springs Park until noon.
All proceeds go to Project Graduation 2014. Thank you for your support in this great annual fundraising event and we hope to see you at the finish line on April 19!
