Music improvisation class planned

    As part of the ongoing education programs of Steelville Art Council,  a short course will be offered in May on Music Improvisation. The course, taught by Dr. Kenneth Colbert, will be offered to beginner and intermediate students of any age on any instrument.

    The genres covered will be rock, folk, country and jazz. Students are asked to bring instrument and a recording of two songs to the first session on Monday, May 12. Basics of improvisation will be covered and advice given to student on how to play accompaniment or solo on the student's selected songs in the first class.
    The students will work on their two songs that week and return Friday, May 16 for the second session. Further help will be given and then each student will be encouraged to join the monthly jam session at Gallery Zeke on Saturday May 17.
