Cuba finishes third in CMS relays

Rolla finished first, Steelville second, and Cuba third in both the girls and boys competitions at the Cuba Middle School Relays on April 16. The CMS team performed very well in several events but came up short in compiling team point totals at the end of the track meet.

Hunter Pitts won both the 100 meter dash (14.72) and the 400 meters (1:10.74) events, and she also took fifth in the long jump (12 feet, 8 inches) to help power the Lady Cats squad. Erykah Killeen likewise dominated the competition that day, winning both the long jump (13 feet, 7 inches) and triple jump events (27 feet, 5 inches), and taking third in the 1600 meters (6:25.97).

Ella Smith finished second in the 100 dash (15.20), second in the 400 meters (1:11.09), and sixth in high jump (3 feet, 10 inches); Madison Mallady was ninth in the 200 (34.59) and the long jump (11 feet, 6 inches); Madison Farace took second in triple jumps (24 feet, 9.5 inches), second in the long jump (13 feet), and fifth in the 100 hurdles (21.05); Abby Dickhoener was sixth in the 800 meters (3:30.16) and seventh in the 1600 (7:15.08); and Kaleigh Bright took fourth in high jump (4 feet).

The 4x400 girls captured first place in their race (Farris, Killeen, Pitts, Smith; 4:50.15), the 4x100 team took third (Bright, Dakota Callahan, Mattie Hampton, Mallady; 1:03.50), and the 4x200 squad was fourth (Mallady, Hannah Pilkenton, Bright, Brittani Davis; 2:19.17).

Garrett Schroyer finished second in the 100 (12.89) and third in the long jump (15 feet, 10 inches), Jared Priest won the triple jump event (32 feet, 1 inch) and was third in the 400 meters (1:01.19), Dillon Hemby finished tenth in the 200 (32.67), Trenton Gordeau took seventh in the 400 (1:05.10) and fifth in long jump (14 feet, 10 inches), Mikael Moore was fourth in the discus (83 feet, 6 inches) and seventh in the shot put (31 feet, 8 inches), Josh Elrod took eighth in shot put (31 feet, 3 inches), and Austin Shockley was seventh place in the 800 meters (2:48.32) and ninth in the 1600 (6:16.06).

The 4x100 team ran second in their event (Chase Garber, Priest, Gordeau, Schroyer; 52.60); the 4x200 boys were third (Garber, Elrod, Hemby, Torey Monjarez; 2:01.41); and the 4x400 team won its race (Gordeau, Priest, Elrod, Schroyer; 4:13.06).
