Geraldine McConnell Terry

Geraldine McConnell Terry
Geraldine McConnell Terry of Newburg Missouri was born on July 26, 1932 in Okemah Oklahoma to Ira and Essie (Vanzo) Clay and passed away June 12, at the age of 81 years.

Geraldine’s mother passed away when she was three years old.  She and her sister Jeannie were adopted by Glenver and Ruth McConnell of Tulsa Oklahoma.
At 18 years of age, she married Raymond Brooks and had one son, Michael S. Brooks.  At the age of 22 she married William Terry and had another son, Patrick J. Terry.
Gerri was a gifted artist and musician. She was a classically trained pianist and particularly loved playing Beethoven and Chopin.  She also was an avid reader and a writer of poetry. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren loved her songs and these have been lovingly passed on through her elder son to the school children of St. Patrick School in Rolla as well as her caregivers at Golden Living Center in Rolla, Missouri.
At the tender age of 44, Gerri gave her heart and life to God. One of her favorite songwriters, Buddy Mondlock, seemed to capture her nature beautifully in one of his songs. “She would kick up her heels on Michigan Avenue, She would dance all night, And when any of us were doubting ourselves, She told us we were alright.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Essie (Vanzo) Clay.
She is survived by her brother, Calvin Clay of Bunch, Oklahoma; sisters, Joyce Ramey of Stillwell, Oklahoma and Delaine (Corky) Verbryke-Finks of Muskogee, Oklahoma; sons Michael S. Brooks and his wife Mary of Newburg, Missouri and Patrick J. Terry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Sarah Kutz and her husband Matt of Kansas City, Missouri and Shauna McElrath and her husband John of West Poland, Maine, Michael Brooks and his wife Amy of St. Louis, Missouri and Patrick and his wife Ashely of Rolla, Missouri; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
