    Joseph “Joe” Richard Simpson of Bland, Missouri, formerly of Cherryville, Missouri was born August 7, 1947 in Steelville, Missouri to John Thomas and Lillie Arnetti Oxendine Simpson and passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the age of 66 years.

    Joe was in law enforcement as a police officer for several years in Missouri, Kansas and Texas. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved to fish and hunt. Joe also enjoyed shooting guns, carpentry and collecting lottery tickets.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Simpson; sister, Ruby Christenson; and brothers, Dale and Dennis Simpson.    
    He is survived by his son, Richard Simpson and girlfriend Kate Speiser of Chicago, Illinois; three daughters, Colet Davis and husband Mark of Bland, Missouri, Lynette Scott and boyfriend Sean Debeaubien of Sedalia, Missouri and Felcia Stewart and husband Brett of Owensville, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother John Simpson, Jr. and wife Liz of Cuba, Missouri; two sisters, Ruth Hill and husband Elgie of Cuba, Missouri and Betty Sterling of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
    Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating.  Special music of “Mansion Over the Hilltop” was sung by Richard Ryerson. Other music of “Old Rugged Cross” and a medley of hymns were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman. Special memories were shared by a granddaughter, Chandra Cannon.
    Honorary casket bearers were Jake Cannon, Kelly Goines, Carl Baker, Denny Lea Simpson, Andrew Simpson and Jesse Hemby.
