John Francis Smith
John Francis Smith of St. James, Missouri was born on April 2, 1924 to Benjamin and Margaret Gallagher Smith in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away June 30, 2014 at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 28 days.
He was united in marriage to Francis Louise Martin on October 28, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri.
John served his country in the United States Marines Corps during World War II. He was a Defense Mapping Agent for the Department of Defense for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Margaret Smith; and one son, John Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Francis Louise Smith of St. James, Missouri; four sons, Dennis Smith of Rocky Mount, Missouri, Mark Smith and wife Carol of St. Louis, Missouri, Thomas Smith and wife Katherine Smith of Warrenton, Missouri and Robert Smith and wife Renee of Gravois Mills, Missouri; four daughters, Christine Huelskamp and husband Wayne of Cedar Park, Texas, Mary Dunkus and husband Bill of St. James, Missouri, Tina Sansone and husband Sam of Richmond, Texas and Kathleen Kortum and husband Rick of Wildwood, Missouri; one brother, Thomas Smith of St. Peters, Missouri; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was conducted on Thursday, July 3, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with prayer service at 4:30 p.m.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, July 4, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. James, Missouri with Father Charles Pardee officiating. Pallbearers were Mark Smith, Thomas Smith, Robert Smith, Dennis Smith, Bill Dunkus and Sam Sansone.
Burial will be at a later date at the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
