Walter Plant will be performing Sunday, August 10, at the Forest City Christian Church in St. James. The concert will be free to those wanting to be entertained by the gospel pianist.
Plant will bring his blend of Gospel and Country music using four keyboards and his voice to entertain the crowd. Blind since birth, he returns to the area every summer to perform at local churches and organizations. He plays his own accompaniment and does not use any prerecorded tracks or CDs throughout his performance.
This year, the Forest City Christian Church will host the performance and guests are invited to enjoy a free show. The church will play host to the musician with the performance scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Plant was born in 1952 in Corpus Christi Texas and raised in the coastal blend area. Born blind, he was immersed in Gospel music. He fell in love with it and began playing the piano at age 5. He would quickly become enamored with playing, playing piano for his home church. His family would later buy a piano for Plant and he formed a band with some teenagers in the area.
Plant now tours solo, sharing his music to encourage others. All are invited to attend for free entertainment.
