Upward Sports begins soon
Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon is once again hosting the Upward Sports program. The program is open for four year olds through sixth grade boys and girls. Basketball and cheerleading are both available for the children.
Candidates announced for Fall Festival
There are six young ladies signed up to be candidates for Jr. Miss Bourbon to be crowned at the Booster Fall Festival on Friday, September 12.
The big American flag will again mark the entrance to the annual meeting of members of Crawford Electric Cooperative, set for Wednesday, September 10, at the co-op at 10301 N. Service Rd., between Bourbon and Sullivan.
Boosters getting ready for Fall Festival
The Bourbon Boosters will meet on Tuesday, September 2 to make final plans for their annual Fall Festival. The meeting will be held at the Bourbon Community Center at 7 p.m. All who are interested in taking part in the festival are encouraged to attend the meeting.
County will loan itself money for jail bill
Crawford County will make its jail bond payment on time, despite recent concerns that the funds weren’t available to do so. At Tuesday’s commission meeting, a plan was approved to utilize cash from the county’s stabilization fund, the sheriff’s special funds and the prosecuting attorney’s tax collection fund in order to come up with the necessary shortfall of around $170,000 for the $323,676 payment.
County still looking for ways to make jail bond payment
Crawford County’s jail bond underwriter has expressed concern about recent news that the county is struggling to come up with its November payment on the debt. Landon Boehm, of Piper Jaffrey, spoke to county commissioners at their meeting held on October 14, discussing the history of the bond as well as encouraging them to find a way to keep from defaulting on the bill. It is due November 1 and no extension is available.
