Rodeo pair head to national finals

    Two local students qualified to compete at the world’s largest junior high rodeo. Ciera and Colton Hamilton each earned a position on the Missouri State National Junior High Rodeo Team and will be traveling with fellow teammates to Des Moines, Iowa on June 22-28 to compete at the 10th Annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo.

Library hosting astronaut

    The James Memorial Public Library will host retired NASA Astronaut Tom Akers on Thursday. Akers brings years of experience in the aviation field to resident youth who would like to visit the library beginning at 10:30 a.m.

MFA helps GAC purchase new freezer

    On Tuesday morning, MFA Oil Foundation awarded the St. James Golden Age Center (GAC) with a grant of $2,000 to be used to purchase a new freezer. Plant Manager Gene Martin and District Sales Manager Joe Case presented the check to GAC President Shirley Stogsdil and Treasurer Maxine Palmer.

City will continue sewer line work

    Layne Inliner will be working to repair sewer lines throughout St. James over the next few months. After using a camera to evaluate the system, problem lines will be repaired with liners that are inserted into the pipes for structure stability, which will help with the bypass elimination plan required by the state.

Veterans Home, businesses sponsoring fireworks again

    Independence Day fireworks will be returning to St. James at the Missouri Veteran’s home. Sponsored jointly by the Veteran’s Assistance League and local businesses, the display will be a great opportunity to celebrate the Fourth of July with local residents and veterans.

City approves street paving bids

    The St. James City Council took bids for asphalt into consideration during Monday night’s June meeting. Three bids were received for the project, which will be used to pave city streets during the summer months.
