Middle School work should be finished soon
Work on the expansion at St. James Middle School is nearly complete. Last week, Lloyd Pooker, of Creative Construction Solutions, went through the punch list with Brockmiller Construction. Of the final things left on the list, most checked out fine, with only a few minor fixes left for completion. The building is expected to be ready for the start of summer school.
Seniors earn nearly $250,000 in scholarships
The John F. Hodge graduating class of 2014 was awarded $243,855 in institutional scholarships to pursue higher educations.

Members of the John F. Hodge High School Class of 2014 enjoyed their final moments spent together as a class on Saturday, May 24. The Middle School gym was filled to capacity as students held their last event as a class during graduation.
Caring Center makes $20,000 donation to school for supplies
The St. James Caring Center has donated $20,000 for the purchase of school supplies to the St. James School District. Last Friday, Caring Center Executive Director Ramona Rinehart presented Superintendent Joy Tucker with the check. It has been the goal for the past several years to provide every student with school supplies.
Synthetic turf could be put down at football field this week
Brockmiller Construction is finishing work at the high and middle schoolS as the school year comes to a close. Lloyd Pooker, of Creative Construction Solutions, gave the St. James Board of Education an update on construction during the May 15 regular meeting of the board.
St. James High School graduation has been reschedule to 8 p.m. on Saturday. The event was pushed back an hour to accommodate students participating in the sectional track meet that day.
