Local car dealer is hosting autism event
Hutcheson Ford will be holding a “Drive For Your Community” event this Saturday to benefit the St. Louis Chapter of Autism Speaks. On June 21, Hutcheson will host a “$6k in a Day” challenge to raise money for the effort.
GAC seeks donations
The St. James Golden Age Center is sponsoring a dinner and silent auction on July 12 and is looking for local businesses willing to donate a product, gift certificate or item to be part of their silent auction. Businesses interested in donated can have their item picked up by a local volunteer at the senior center for the event.
Rodeo pair head to national finals
Two local students qualified to compete at the world’s largest junior high rodeo. Ciera and Colton Hamilton each earned a position on the Missouri State National Junior High Rodeo Team and will be traveling with fellow teammates to Des Moines, Iowa on June 22-28 to compete at the 10th Annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo.
The James Memorial Public Library will host retired NASA Astronaut Tom Akers on Thursday. Akers brings years of experience in the aviation field to resident youth who would like to visit the library beginning at 10:30 a.m.
MFA helps GAC purchase new freezer
On Tuesday morning, MFA Oil Foundation awarded the St. James Golden Age Center (GAC) with a grant of $2,000 to be used to purchase a new freezer. Plant Manager Gene Martin and District Sales Manager Joe Case presented the check to GAC President Shirley Stogsdil and Treasurer Maxine Palmer.
