Appreciation days being held

    Bourbon Drugs will be hosting Customer Appreciation Days every Saturday from 9 am until noon.   These are for customers new and old as a special “thank-you” for their business and for the community to meet the new pharmacist Alan Lane.

Spinners coming to Bourbon

    The Rural Missouri Spinners will be hosting a statewide All Missouri Spin In at the Bourbon Community Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The event is open to the public.

County, MDC meet to discuss widening Cave Road

    Cave Road may be one step closer to becoming a safer roadway. On July 22, Crawford County Commissioners called a meeting with representatives from the Missouri Department of Conservation to discuss the proposed project at the site in question.

Veterans gather in St. Louis for VFW convention

Editor's Note: Tom Korth was sent on assignment to attend the VFW national convention in St. Louis. Korth is both an Iraq war veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The 115th Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention was held in St. Louis this week. More than 12,000 members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary participated in the event to elect new leadership and to approve resolutions that will guide the national organization’s advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill.

Presiding commissioner being challenged by road district employee

    Crawford County voters will determine their next Presiding Commissioner at the August 5 Primary Election. Two Republicans are the only candidates who have filed for the position, so the one who wins in August will not have an opponent in the November election. Incumbent Leo Sanders faces challenger Wes Littrell for the seat.

County clerk race will be decided during primary

    The next Crawford County Clerk will be decided at the August primary, not in the November election. Both candidates for the office have filed under the Republican Party, and there is not a candidate from the Democratic Party, so voters will determine the next office holder when they go to the polls on August 5. Incumbent Mardy Leathers faces opposition from challenger John G. Martin.
