Festival starts Wednesday, Sept. 6

    The 81st Annual Grape and Fall Festival returns next Wednesday and runs through September 6. Activities will have visitors filling the Nelson Hart Community Park throughout the weekend.

Golden Living Center gets high marks

    The Golden Living Center (GLC) has been recognized as a 2014 recipient of the Gold- Excellence in Quality National Quality Award presented by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL). This is the first time a long-term provider has won the award three years in a row. The ceremony will be held at the AHCA/NCAL 65th Annual Convention and Exposition in October.

School leaves tax levy as is

    The St. James Board of Education voted August 21 to hold the district’s tax levy at the current rate. A public hearing was held to allow for citizen input, but none was heard. Board members felt now is not the appropriate time to raise the levy, which it could do by law.

Party planned at football field

    A community tailgate party and ribbon-cutting ceremony are scheduled for this Friday, August 29, to mark the official opening of the new track and football field. The St. James Tiger Football team will be hosting their first home game of the season against Houston and board of education members will serve hamburgers, hotdogs, and refreshments to the public at no charge.

Ribbon cutting held at new location

    Bourbon Small Engine Repair took part in a ribbon cutting recently held by the Sullivan Chamber of Commerce after moving their business to 10729 N Service Road in Bourbon, Missouri.
