Phelps County Clerk Carol Bennett has announced that the county’s optical scan voting equipment will be testing on Monday, September 22.
Commission approves tax levies
During the week of September 4, Phelps County commissioners:
• Held a public hearing for the adoption of the 2014 tax levies for the County Revenue and Road and Bridge Funds. Commissioners approved County Revenue Levy at $0.1537 per $100 of assessed valuation and the Road and Bridge Levy at $0.0940 per $100 of assessed valuation.
The United Way will be holding its third annual United Way Day of Caring on Friday, Sept. 12. The event is a day centered on helping local, non-profit organizations complete short-term projects.
ROLLA, Mo. – Phelps County Bank’s downtown Rolla location will be drawing some of its power from the sun next spring, thanks to a partnership between the bank and Missouri University of Science and Technology. The historic four-story building at 718 N. Pine was once the Edwin Long Hotel and has been the home of Phelps County Bank (PCB) for more than 50 years.
Sales tax revenue still strong
During the week of August 14, Phelps County commissioners:
• Approved the Quarterly Reimbursement Report for the Tough on Trash Grant in the amount of $2,375.25.
Partnership encourages S&T students to make Major Miner Memories
The week before the official start of the new semester, members of the Missouri S&T Residence Hall Association participated in a team-building volunteer project for The Community Partnership, a local non-profit organization. Half of the volunteers worked in the Partnership's Resale Shop, sorting, organizing and hanging clothes - the other half (pictured here) did a salvage clothing bale.
