Steelville teen crowned county fair queen

    After a 13-year drought, Steelville reigns once again over the Crawford County Fair. Kelsie Jean Booker, daughter of Rick and Teresa Booker, was crowned the 2014 Crawford County Fair Queen during coronation ceremonies Thursday, July 10. She was sponsored by the Steelville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Disaster Relief Fund created for county

A Crawford County Disaster Relief Fund has been created to be prepared to assist local residents and businesses in the event of a catastrophic event in the area. This fund is a proactive effort to be able to respond to immediate needs for people who are affected in a disaster.

Meramec Farms Road scheduled for closure

    Meramec Farms Road should be abandoned by Crawford County—in five years. Prosecuting Attorney Bill Seay met with commissioners, and another full room of interested people, on Tuesday, June 24 to explain the legalities of the question on who owned the road and whether it is a public roadway.

Suspect now faces kidnapping charges

Kidnapping charges have been added to those against Brock Edward Woodfin, age 45, of Steelville—the man who was charged in April with class A felony assault in the first degree and unclassified felony armed criminal action. Two counts class B felony kidnapping charges were filed by Crawford County Prosecutor Bill Seay on June 19 in connection with the same incident.
