Commissioners discuss possible road closure

    Crawford County commissioners heard arguments against closing a local roadway at their meeting on April 29 after landowners along the thoroughfare petitioned for its closure. Property owners have asked to close a section of Meramec Farms Road, but two different entities had concerns with that request.

Voter registration coming to county high schools

    Crawford County Clerk Mardy Leathers (far right) and Elections Management Clerk DeDee Hamilton held a voter registration drive at Steelville High School on Thursday, April 24. Ten SHS students registered during the hour and a half long time frame the two were at the school during lunch periods. This drive is the first in a series of these planned throughout the county in an effort to encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote.

Two St. James area residents held for murder, assault near Rosati

   Murder charges have been filed against a man and woman from the St. James area in shootings that took place in Crawford County near Rosati in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 23.

Local voters heading to polls on Tuesday
