One CHS senior was selected to this year’s Class 3, District 9 all-district boys basketball team, and three others were given all-district, honorable mention honors.

Former CHS grad takes fourth at NCAA track nationals

Fourth in the entire nation isn’t a bad spot to find yourself in. Just ask former Cuba High School track and field star Amber White, who finished fourth in the NCAA Division II track championships on Saturday.

Boys fall to Steelville in first round of playoffs

With a team heavy-laden with seniors, this was supposed to be the year the Wildcat boys played for a district basketball championship. Unfortunately, expectations fell short of actuality, and the Cats were bounced out of the district playoffs in their opening round game with Steelville last week. The Cardinals went on to play for the district championship after knocking off St. James in the semis; they lost in the finals to Fatima.

Dixon downs Cuba girls in districts

After getting off to a great start, the Lady Wildcat offense went flat in the last three quarters, as Cuba lost its first round, district playoff matchup to Dixon by a score of 53-48. The loss put an end to Cuba’s season.

Seniors get it done on Senior Night

The Cuba Wildcats were able to end a two-game losing streak last week by defeating Bourbon in the regular season finale. It was an emotion-filled Senior Night at Mike Voigt Gym on Friday, as the Wildcat boys finished the year with a 16-8 regular season record and a 7-2 mark at home. By knocking off the Warhawks 72-45, the Cats were able to secure a tie with Steelville for the 2014 conference championship.
