Wildcats host district track, advance to sectionals in several events

That home cooking in Cuba must sure taste good. Having the benefit of running on their home track as host of this year’s Class 2, District 3 meet, the Cuba Wildcats qualified a number of their athletes for the sectional meet taking place at Linn this weekend. The Cuba boys team finished a strong second at last Saturday’s district competition, and the girls took fourth.

CHS track teams sweep conference meet

Both the CHS girls and boys track teams took first place in the Gasconade Valley Conference track meet held in Cuba last Saturday. The Wildcat boys compiled 175 points, well ahead of the Vienna boys, who placed second with 99 points. The Cuba girls finished the day with 178 points, edging past both Vienna (142) and Steelville (130). The Cuba team won 13 different events in the meet.

Wildcats split doubleheader at Ste. Gen

The varsity Wildcat baseball boys split a pair of non-conference games in a doubleheader played at Ste. Genevieve on Saturday. Cuba knocked off Christian Brothers College High School 6-4 before falling to Valle Catholic 6-3 in the late game.

Possible district foe takes down baseball Cats

Wildcat batters were stymied by Conway pitching in an 8-1 defeat the Cats suffered on the road last week. It was only the second loss of the year for the Cuba baseball team.

Cuba finishes third in CMS relays

Rolla finished first, Steelville second, and Cuba third in both the girls and boys competitions at the Cuba Middle School Relays on April 16. The CMS team performed very well in several events but came up short in compiling team point totals at the end of the track meet.


Nash gets three hits in win over Belle

Bryer Nash had three hits, including a double, at Paul Bryan Field, helping the Wildcats defeat the Tigers 11-3 on Monday, April 21. Nash was part of a Cuba offense that scored 11 times on 11 hits.
