Donations sought to help decorate veterans cemetery

    Art Compton has been a figurehead for the local Wreaths Across America program for six years. He’s at it again this holiday season, looking to raise local cash donations so that a Christmas wreath may be placed upon every grave marker at the St. James Veterans Home cemetery.

Coordinated mental health efforts continuing in St. Louis area; multi-agency Resilience Coalition has worked since August to help provide support to community

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Resilience Coalition, a group of public and private sector mental health care advocates in the St. Louis area, is continuing to provide mental health support and services to children, families and residents of Ferguson and the surrounding areas. Gov. Jay Nixon said mental health professionals from Coalition members are in place, and additional mental health professionals are on standby to provide support to individuals who have experienced trauma or may need emotional help.

State Treasurer Clint Zweifel reminds Missourians to keep old gift cards and to participate in the Unclaimed Property charitable donation program

• Many expired gift cards are still redeemable through Unclaimed Property
 
JEFFERSON CITY – State Treasurer Clint Zweifel today reminds Missourians that they can redeem the value of old and expired gift cards or certificates through Unclaimed Property. Gift cards or certificates that go unused or get lost never lose their value. Instead they are turned over to Treasurer Zweifel’s office as Unclaimed Property until the original owner or an heir claims it.

October brought lowest state unemployment rate since 2008

JEFFERSON CITY - The unemployment rate in Missouri drops to the lowest since June 2008 as the holiday season gets underway, according to the Oct. 2014 jobs report.
