MS&T to hold cultural celebration

    For the fifth consecutive year, Missouri University of Science and Technology and Rolla residents will unite to host Celebration of Nations on Sept. 27. This year, the multicultural event will feature a performance by the popular bluegrass group Jimmie Allison and the Ozark Rounders.

Vichy FD hosting tractor cruise

    Five year ago on May 31, 2009, the Vichy Fire Dept. hosted its first tractor cruise with founding board member and firefighter Leroy Tipton initiating, planning, coordinating and leading the tractor parade. Leroy passed away in February 2014, so in his honor, the sixth annual Vichy tractor cruise will be the Leroy Tipton Memorial Tractor Cruise.

Chics and Chocolate returning to St. James on September 25

    Chics and Chocolate will return to downtown businesses on Thursday, September 25. The “Girls Night Out” event will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Sponsored by the St. James Chamber of Commerce Area Merchants Committee, the event will provide participating ladies samplings of local businesses and prizes throughout the evening.

MMT hosting two Christian groups

    Two young Christian groups will perform in Steelville next week as part of the “While We’re Young” tour. 1 Girl Nation and OBB co-headline the tour that will make a stop at the Meramec Music Theatre on Thursday, September 18 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Missouri Mines State Historic Site to celebrate 150th Anniversary of Southeast Missouri lead mining

Missouri Mines State Historic Site will host an open house on Saturday, Sept. 13. The event will include exhibits, presentations and free museum admission. Sponsored by Missouri State Parks, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
