    Candidate filing is open until January 20 for people interested in serving on several local boards. The election will take place on Tuesday, April 7.

Show Me Fitness provides new opportunity for physical fitness

    Show Me Fitness of Steelville is now open and boasts a wide variety of fitness equipment to fit all ages and stages of health and wellness goals. The new health center opened on January 2 and features both new equipment and trained personnel to help people in the area work toward physical fitness.

Chipman served community well

    Charles Chipman had just retired from his role as alderman for the Steelville City Council and planned to travel to visit family in southern states, but died before he could make those trips. Chipman, who had served as alderman for six and a half years, resigned from his role at the December 15, 2014 meeting, citing personal reasons.

Steelville earned top MCB award, makes national television in 2014

    Steelville was featured on a national TV show, earned a top award in the Missouri Community Betterment competition and the city was awarded a large grant in 2014 to help with the construction of a new lodge. Those and the following other stories were highlights of the past year:

Steelville Country Club holds annual Children’s Christmas party – PHOTO GALLERY

    It was a wonderful warm day for the children attending the Children’s Christmas party.  They came out to spend some time with Santa Claus.  Those who attended were treated to soda, candy, cupcakes, hotdogs and cookies.  Each child received a bag filled with an apple, orange, gloves, and candy along with a present from Santa.
