Park bathrooms locked as a result of vandalism

    Vandals continue to wreak havoc with Steelville park bathrooms and Police Chief Lydle Davis is fed up with it. He informed city council members that he had instructed a park employee to close the bathrooms at the Community Park indefinitely and to put a chain and locks on the doors to prevent entrance to the buildings.

SHS grades earn $250,000 in scholarships

    Steelville High School graduates in the Class of 2014 received a total of just over $250,000 in scholarships to pursue higher education. Twenty-six students were awarded scholarships, many of them receiving multiple awards.

City pound has taken new path

    Steelville’s animal control officer, Keith Young, has a definite love for the dogs in his care. And they love him, too. When he goes to the city’s animal shelter, they are happy to see him, wagging and jumping up to be petted. And he obliges—offering hugs and pats to each one. He already has adopted one lucky shelter dog and has him at his home.
