SFPD awarded GP grant for needed equipment

Georgia-Pacific awarded a $5,000 grant to the Steelville Fire Protection District (SFPD) to purchase needed equipment for local volunteer firefighters. The funds came through the Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigade grant program. As a result of the grant, the SFPD was able to buy four full sets of new gear to outfit fire personnel, including helmets, hoods, coats, pants, gloves and boots.

SHS seniors planning 5K run on Valentine’s Day

    The Steelville High School senior class will host a “Run Your Heart Out” 5K run/walk on Saturday, February 14 at Steelville Community Park to benefit the 2015 Project Graduation, which ensures a safe, drug- and alcohol-free celebration for SHS seniors.

    This is the last week to file as a candidate to serve on local boards. The last day to declare candidacy with the individual entities is Tuesday, January 20 and the spring election to fill the positions will take place on Tuesday, April 7.
