Workshop programs resume at Friends Helping Friends

Friends Helping Friends has resumed its sheltered workshop operations, and the new woodshop and other programs are working out well with the participants.


Cuba Schools open without a hitch

Things went smoothly at the Cuba Schools on the first day, and have only gotten smoother in the days since, say administrators. Classes resumed at the school district last Thursday.


McGinnis Wood receives safety recognition

The Missouri Department of Labor’s On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program announced that McGinnis Wood Products, Inc. is the newest member of Missouri’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP). A midday ceremony was held at the Cuba barrel factory recently to recognize the company and its employees for the SHARP award.

Land swap agreements signed, Project Oak to move forward

Yes, the Project Oak timetable is well behind its proposed start date for construction, but that doesn’t mean it has fallen apart. Mardy Leathers of the Cuba Development Group, who spearheaded the redevelopment of the Oak Hill Avenue neighborhood on the north side of town, says the project is definitely ready to move forward now that the legal pieces of the puzzle have all been put together.

Grandmother from New Jersey charged in Crawford County

    The woman who made national news for allegedly abducting her granddaughter now faces charges in Crawford County related to the case. Terry D. Omeni, 60, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, has been charged with class D felony interference with custody (removed from state or concealed).
