The Missouri Department of Labor’s On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program announced that McGinnis Wood Products, Inc. is the newest member of Missouri’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP). A midday ceremony was held at the Cuba barrel factory recently to recognize the company and its employees for the SHARP award.
Eleven young ladies from Steelville will compete for the title of 2014 Harvest Festival Queen this year. These young women will take the stage at the Meramec Music Theatre on Thursday, September 4, and one will end the evening’s pageant wearing the queen’s crown.
The 81st Annual Grape and Fall Festival is coming to St. James soon. Area residents will have plenty to do for the festival this year, which runs September 3-6. Many new and returning events are slated for the week.

The 2nd Annual Show-Me Quilt Show and Vintage Quilt Exhibition, presented by the Steelville Arts Council, is coming to Gallery Zeke next month. The quilt show will be held the first week of September—from September 1 to 7—with competitors vying for prizes in several different categories.
