Resident wants carport rule changed

    Resident John McCallister spoke to the St. James City Council Monday night about a city code that restricts residents from having carports in their driveway. McCallister believes the ordinance should be amended to allow for carports and Councilman John Huster had the issue put on the agenda for the council to discuss possible solutions.

Parking nixed near soccer field

    The St. James City Council approved an ordinance Monday night making it illegal to park on the north side of the driveway near the soccer field at Nelson Hart Park. Parking issues have caused dangerous situations during high traffic times at the park, leading to concerns about foot traffic crossing near the bathrooms and ball fields. Park Director Clay Coffman spoke to the council about the situation.

Public House opens new brewery location in St. James

    Public House Brewing Company opened the doors to its new St. James facility on November 29. The soft opening has been well received during its first week of operation and owners Josh Goodrich and Josh Stacy hope bring a new experience to the area.

OT policy reversed at council meeting

    Alderman David Watkins took issue with an item left off Monday night’s agenda of the St. James City Council. He had requested a discussion regarding a change to the employee handbook, which was discussed during the November council meeting.

Good cause leads to curly locks for coach

    A fundraising endeavor was held over the past two weeks to raise money to help out a local charity and the St. James High School boys’ basketball team. Jon Rapp, of Phelps County Bank, and Ben Smith, Tigers’ coach, have been attempting to raise $3,000. If the goal is met, Smith will perm his hair for the remainder of the season.
