81st GFF went well
• Chamber officials happy with this year’s event
The Grape and Fall Festival came to St. James for its 81st year last week. While the St. James Chamber of Commerce is still calculating how well the festival did, the four-day event went off without a hitch.
Library plans birthday party for Lucy Wortham James
The James Memorial Public Library will celebrate the 134th birthday of Lucy Wortham James this Saturday. Photographs of Mrs. James, along with videos and a history of her life will be available in the main reading room at the library throughout the day.
Skouby plans to remain municipal judge, even if he runs for Maries County prosecutor
Richard (Tony) Skouby is currently seeking election as the Maries County prosecutor in the upcoming November election, but said he intends to keep his jobs as municipal judge in St. James, Belle and Newburg. Skouby, who is a resident of St. James and also owns property in Maries County, is currently awaiting a ruling on his eligibility to seek office in Maries County.

The 81st Annual Grape and Fall Festival officially began Wednesday night, with Hayley Lynn Portell being crowned Miss St. James during the queen pageant, which was held at St. James Middle School. Portell was one of seven candidates vying for the crown.
School district welcomes many new teachers
St. James schools are back in session and 16 new faculty members have joined the district. Twelve new teachers and four office personnel have joined throughout each of the three buildings.
