Caring Center helps brighten the holidays for many

    The St. James Caring Center recently completed its holiday food drives and deliveries and it was a very busy November and December. Volunteers delivered holiday meals to families over Christmas and assisted the St. James Sports Club with its annual toy drive.

St. James saw some big improvements made in 2014

    This past year was a big one for St. James, with many new projects and additions for the city and school district. Many changes have been experienced over the past 12 months and these are some of the top stories of 2014.

Nominees sought by Chamber, deadline near

    The St. James Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2014 Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement awards and this is the last week nominations can be made. Award winners will be announced during the Chamber’s awards banquet in January.

Sons of American Legion bring Christmas cheer to veterans

    When Sons of the American Legion started an adopt-a-vet program three years ago, no one dreamed it would take off as it has. The purpose of the program is to provide Christmas gifts and fellowship to veterans at Christmas.

Three candidates have filed for mayor’s post

    Candidate filing for the April 2015 election is under way. Interested candidates have until January 20 to file for positions with the city of St. James, board of education and ambulance district.
