Applications for the Grape and Fall Festival parade are now available to anyone interested in participating in this year’s event. This year’s theme is “Heard it Through the Grapevine” and participants are encouraged to decorate a float matching the theme.
Special election called for new library tax vote
St. James voters will get another chance to vote on the proposed library tax after Circuit Court Judge William Hickle ordered the results of the August 5 Proposition A vote thrown out. After a hearing on August 20, Hickle dismissed the results due to an error at the poles and has set a special election for September 30 for the tax.
Queen candidates, Chamber getting ready for 81st GFF
The 81st Annual Grape and Fall Festival is coming to St. James soon. Area residents will have plenty to do for the festival this year, which runs September 3-6. Many new and returning events are slated for the week.
On Saturday, August 23, an organization called Change This World (CTW) will be at the St. James Community Hall in Nelson Hart Park to pack 50,000 meals. Beginning at 9 a.m., volunteers from the community will join together to package balanced meals for those suffering from hunger around the world.
The James Memorial Public Library Board will be holding a public forum on Tuesday, August 26 at 6 p.m. at the library. Members of the board and city officials will be available to answer any questions city residents have about the property tax issue, which will once again be presented to a public vote.
