Grieving families are forming group to help others carry on

    A new chapter of The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is coming to the Meramec area. The group provides grief support for families that suffer the death of a child. Trina and Scott Fitch and Mike and Marsha Brinker are working to bring a local chapter to this area for those needing to heal during their time of grief.


Library tax barely approved

    If you forgot to vote in St. James on Tuesday, it may be your fault the library tax passed, or didn’t fail. The measure was approved by just two votes.

PTO needs new members if it is to continue

    The St. James Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is seeking new members for the board moving into the start of another school year. Since its inception, the same board members have served to get the program started and have reached the length of time stated in their bylaws to assist the school district. If the program is to continue, new board members are necessary.


Local basketball players headed to Chicago

    Members of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) girl’s basketball team will play on a WNBA court on August 3. Team Blackout will play following a WNBA game between the Chicago Sky and the Washington Mystics.

International students educated about drugs

    Youth from all across the world visited Camp Brimshire to hear members of the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department and the Prosecutor’s Office discuss drug abuse and trafficking last Friday. As part of the Lion’s International Youth Camp and Exchange, the visiting kids had the opportunity to learn about differences in law enforcement around the world and got to see how drug dogs are used in the United States.
