Extension to offer strength-training class for seniors

The University of Missouri Extension is partnering with the Greentree Christian Church in Rolla to offer Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - a strength training program to help men and women increase strength, flexibility and balance. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial for health. Building strength promotes quality of life and independence, especially for adults over 50.

CASA honors local volunteers

    The South Central Missouri Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children honored the volunteers who serve the abused and neglected children living in foster care in the 25th Judicial Circuit.

MU Extension and USDA hosting Farm Bill meeting

The 2014 Farm Bill contains several provisions that enable farmers and landowners to make decisions regarding their involvement in federal farm programs.  Landowners will have the opportunity to reallocate base acres on individual farms as well as update yield information that is used to determine some farm program payments.

Water district hoping to find a solution to financial woes

    A letter is being sent out to residents living within the Phelps Water Sewer District #4, advising them on the state of the district and asking to work together to fix issues within the district. Residents are looking at increased rates should action not be taken, and Ramona Rinehart and Kevin Whitener, along with a group of residents in the district, are asking for help in finding a solution.

Troop I announces selective enforcement operation

      Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that sometime during the month of February, troopers assigned to Troop I will participate in a special enforcement operation targeting drivers committing hazardous moving violations.
