Troop I announces special river enforcement

    Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, has announced that sometime during the month of June Troop I officers will participate in a special enforcement operation on the Gasconade River in Phelps and Pulaski counties. The emphasis of the operation will be the detection of those individuals who are operating either a motor vehicle near the river’s accesses, or water vessel on the river, while intoxicated.

S&T student improving rural drinking water

    A Ph.D. student from Missouri University of Science and Technology is screening Missouri drinking water for common and emerging water contaminants and seeking new technologies to improve drinking water quality.

Commission discusses outer road survey

    During the week of May 29, Phelps County commissioners:
    • Heard from Eula Huskey, who appeared to discuss a resident on the road leading to her property denying her access to her land. The commission recommended that Huskey have her attorney petition the circuit court for an easement to the property.


Study approved for bridge work

    During the week of May 22, Phelps County commissioners:
    • Heard from Rob Conway, Archer-Elgin Engineering, who discussed possible locations for the bridge on Road 7050. Conway recommended the commission allow him to engage Wilson Hydrology as part of their engineering contract to perform studies to determine the location for the bridge. The commission agreed to the studies.

Citizens request that streets be vacated

    During the week of May 15, Phelps County commissioners:
    • Heard from Andrew Adami and Virginia Finn, who discussed the possibility of vacating 5th Street in Jerome, as well as the alley between Oak and Pearl streets. They advised that they own lots 106 and lots 29-32. The commission informed Adami and Finn of the necessary procedures for formal vacation of a county road. Commissioners will discuss this matter with Prosecuting Attorney John Beger.
