Portion of county road vacated

    During the week of July 1, Phelps County commissioners:
    • Conducted the second and final reading of the petition for the vacation of a portion of Road 3570 as filed by Matthew Snelson and signed by 12 residents of the Meramec Township. A public hearing was held on the issue, with no one appearing. Commissioners passed judgment to vacate that portion of the road.

Meeting held to discuss outer road project

    During the week of June 26, Phelps County commissioners:
    • Approved to authorize Treasurer Carol Green with the Phelps County voting credentials for the National Association of Counties annual conference.

Are authorities conduct drug suspect round-up

During the past 30 months officers assigned to the South Central Drug Task Force have been conducting covert narcotic operations in and around Phelps County. During this investigation numerous suspects were identified. Early today law enforcement officers from Rolla, St James, and Salem Police Departments, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Phelps and Dent County Sheriff’s Departments and the Task Force assembled at the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department.  At 6 a.m., after a detailed briefing and being divided into six teams, officers departed on the first 2014 warrant round-up.

Couple arrested for allegedly growing pot

Law enforcement agencies throughout the county were participating in an Arrest Warrant Round-up today.  While serving arrest warrants in the 31000 block of Private Drive 6265 in Edgar Springs, Missouri Officer’s located the Kasprzaks.  While serving the arrest warrants for the Manufacture of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Officers became suspicious of activities inside the residence.

Phelps County Clerk announces absentee ballots available

    Phelps County Clerk Carol Bennett has announced that registered Phelps County voters that absentee ballots for the August 5 Primary Election are now available in the County Clerk’s Office.
