Three caught with drugs at country club

Three people were charged with drug possession after a state trooper noticed them parked at the Cuba Lakes Country Club in the early morning hours of January 16 and investigated the suspicious activity.

John Britton served his community well

Both Cuba and Steelville mourn the loss of a man devoted to making his community a better place. John Britton, actively involved in a variety of endeavors in both cities for many years, died on Wednesday, January 21, at the age of 86.

Canine search yields nothing on missing woman

A canine search and rescue team from the Eureka Fire Protection District was called on last week to again attempt to locate a missing woman from St. James. Amanda Caudill, 27, has been missing since December 15, 2014.

Indian Hills fire leads to burglary, arson and car theft charges

    A Cuba man stands charged with arson, burglary, and stealing a car, allegedly confessing the crimes to county law enforcement and a state fire marshal. Carl W. Shafferkoetter, 34, has been charged with three class C felonies: arson in the second degree, burglary in the second degree and tampering in the first degree, all stemming from an incident that took place on November 11, 2014.

Crawford County CenCom has new storage area, updates procedures

The Crawford County E-911 office will soon be able to move some old records out of their cramped space. In a joint effort with STE, the 911 office has a new storage facility located next to the parking lot on their side of the STE building. The 911 board approved the purchase of the small building, and STE took care of the ground preparation to install it. It will be used to house old records that 911 is required to keep indefinitely.
