The Phelps County Sheriff’s Department is investigating various scams in the area and has issued a warning to be vigilant when receiving telephone calls from unknown people.
Primary election filing begins on February 25
Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander recently reminded Missourians that the first date to file as a candidate for the 2014 primary and general elections is February 25. Filing for state and local offices will being at 8 a.m. and will continue during normal business hours at filing offices until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25.
Troop I announces promotions and transfers
Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the following promotions and transfers that were effective February 1, 2014.
Hospital bond resolution approved
During the week of February 6, Phelps County commissioners:
• Held a public hearing for the issuance of the 2014 Series Phelps County Regional Medical Center Revenue Bonds in the amount of $24,275,000. The bonds are pledged strictly on the net revenues of the hospital. Money will be used for capital improvements of the Rolla facility and will be disbursed in five installments, resulting in savings on interest. Following the hearing, commissioners approved a resolution regarding the issuance.
During the week of January 30, Phelps County commissioners:
• Held a monthly courthouse meeting.
• Announced they are soliciting bids for asphalt overlay. Bids will be received in the Phelps County Clerk’s office at 200 North Main Street, Suite 102 until 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11 at which time they will be opened.
