Cats get a win at home

The Wildcats got off to a hot start at home against Dixon on Dec. 12, and their strong performance in the first quarter, paired with good free throw shooting down the stretch, ended up being keys in the 65-56 victory for Cuba.

Lady Cats win conference tournament

The Cuba girls had a good tournament week, winning all three games and taking first place in the Gasconade Valley Tournament played at Cuba High School.

Boys third in GVC tourney

In a fight to determine early-season bragging rights in the Gasconade Valley Conference, the varsity Wildcat boys finished third. They won two out of three games in last week’s GVC Tournament, falling in the second round to Steelville, the team that went on to claim this year’s championship in the Saturday finale.

Girls get wins in first two contests

Lady Wildcat basketball has gotten its new season under way, and the girls are already off to a hot start. After a scrimmage warm-up at Crocker on Nov. 21, the Cuba girls picked up victories at Crocker in a regular season match on Nov. 24 and at the St. James Shootout on Nov. 29.

Weaver dynamite in win over Houston

Let the games begin! The Cuba Wildcats started out their 2014-15 basketball campaign in an exciting fashion with a 68-65 victory at home over the Houston Tigers on Nov. 25. Ryan Weaver had huge night for the Wildcats, as he led the team with 21 points.

Bright bags a white whitetail on opening day

It isn’t every day that you see an all-white deer in the wild. Hunters can go lifetimes without ever seeing one, much less bagging a white buck on opening day of deer season. But T.J. Bright of Cuba did just that: He saw it and he killed it with one shot. His trophy kill will be one he can tell his own kids about.
