Wildcat girls get a quality road win at Rolla

The Lady Wildcats hit well up and down the lineup in a 13-7 win over the Rolla Lady Bulldogs. It was a quality win for the softball team, and Madison Farace led the offense with five hits.

Opening Day at the Lady Wildcat softball field went pretty much according to plan, as the Lady Cats took advantage of a weaker New Haven team and pounded them into submission in a 19-4, four-inning game.

SMS boys take title at Cuba tournament

    The Steelville Middle School boys captured first place in the round-robin Cuba Eighth Grade Basketball Tournament last week. The three victories left the eighth-grade Cardinals with an unblemished 11-0 record on the season.

SHS boys favored to win GVC this season

    After reaching the district tournament finals last season, the Steelville High School varsity boys’ basketball team has emerged as the favorite to win the Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) this season. The Cardinals have been seeded first in the GVC tournament, which will get under way December 1 in Cuba.

Lady Cards have nine freshmen, one senior this season

    There are 15 girls out for basketball at Steelville High School this season and more than half of them are freshmen. The Lady Cardinals will open the 2014-15 season in Dixon on Tuesday.
