The Steelville Clay Festival, which is going on throughout the month of May at Gallery Zeke, continues this weekend with a pair of events on both Friday and Saturday.
Internationally-acclaimed Missouri artist Billyo O’Donnell will hold a three-day plein air workshop during an exhibition of his paintings of the state’s 114 counties and the city of St. Louis. Space is limited for the workshop, so it will be necessary to sign up early, workshop dates are June 20, 21 and 22. Cost is $400 and only $200 for Steelville Arts Council members, thanks to anonymous sponsorships.
Sip ‘n’ Savor returns to St. James on Saturday. Sponsored by the St. James Chamber of Commerce, the sixth annual event will feature some of the best of wineries and breweries from Missouri teaming with local businesses for wine and beer lovers. From 1 to 6 p.m., participants can enjoy endless samples from more than 30 wineries and breweries—with approximately 90 beverages to sample—along with free shuttles between tasting areas, a free bag and wine glass and free workshops.
As part of the ongoing education programs of Steelville Art Council, a short course will be offered in May on Music Improvisation. The course, taught by Dr. Kenneth Colbert, will be offered to beginner and intermediate students of any age on any instrument.
