Steelville schools will continue to seek food service bids

    The Steelville School Board voted to continue its current food service bid plan, despite a plea from a local resident last month to consider how the current contractor has addressed employees after the Affordable Care Act went into effect. All but one board member voted in favor of continuing with the current program.

Steelville now has three Purple Heart Schools

PURPLE HEART SCHOOLS - The Steelville School District now has three Purple Heart schools. On December 9, members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart presented plaques to students from each building level to recognize their dedication and support in honoring combat wounded veterans of America.

Alderman Charles Chipman resigns from Steelville City Council

    Steelville Alderman Charles Chipman made a final motion to adjourn the city council meeting held on Monday, December 15, the part he played in each meeting he had attended during his tenure. It was a motion his counterparts on the council always looked to him to make. Just before that final motion, Chipman tendered his resignation from the council as of December 31.
